Indigenous Scholarship 2015
Following the very high standard of applications from right across Australia in 2013 and 2014, the Australian Institute of Personal Trainers is again offering two Indigenous Scholarships for a male and female applicant from the Indigenous Community in 2015.
Valued at over $5,000 each, the scholarships will provide the successful recipients with FREE tuition in the Certificate IV in Fitness – Complete Personal Trainer, enabling them to start their careers in personal training.
The objective of the scholarships is to empower Indigenous Australians with the knowledge and skills associated with health and fitness, to help address the chronic health and socioeconomic issues that affect Indigenous Communities. The two successful applicants will need to demonstrate a strong commitment to fitness, wellness and dedication to using their scholarship education to positively give back to their community.
Their industry recognised qualifications will enable their employment options to significantly grow beyond traditional Personal Training and into the possibility of setting up their own businesses with a focus on special populations varying from children, new mothers, the aged and corporate environments.
The recipients will be extensively supported with teaching resources, gain experience in REAL working environments and learn how to work with clients.
The Certificate will educate both scholarship winners in anatomy and physiology, designing and delivering gym and exercise programs for special populations, health assessment and screening, client motivation and quality service, occupational health and safety, risk management and business essentials including marketing. The scholarships also include course materials and continued student support throughout the duration of the course.
The application period is from 1 January 2015 to 13 March 2015 with successful applicants announced on 23 March 2015.
What is included in the Certificate IV in Fitness – Complete Personal Trainer qualification?
The Complete Personal Trainer qualification combines prerequisites of SIS30313 Certificate III in Fitness and then launches the scholarship recipients straight into the SIS40210 Certificate IV in Fitness to streamline and fast-track their careers as Personal Trainers.

- Fitness Fundamentals – The Fitness Fundamentals Program offers participants the opportunity to gain practical experience within their local community at times when it suits their schedule. Each student will complete their theory online in addition to 20 hours of practical experience with a Mentor of their choice, one approved by the Australian Institute of Personal Trainers.
- Flexible Mentoring – The Flexible Mentoring Program consists of 20 hours of face-to-face practical experience combined with self-paced theory assignments. Each student will be allocated an Australian Institute of Personal Trainers’ Mentor who will support them through the practical component of the course.
