2015 Indigenous Scholarships Announced
The 2015 Indigenous scholarship recipients have been chosen! We would like to congratulate Ashley Bin Omar of Broome, Western Australia and Holly Savage of Cairns, Queensland as this year’s winners.
As a mental health worker specialising in working with Indigenous communities, Ashley, 34, is working towards becoming a mental health nurse. He plans to use his Personal Training scholarship education to empower members of the Indigenous community to use fitness to achieve greater mental, emotional and physical well-being.
Holly, 41, has an extensive background in sport and fitness. As a bodybuilder, she mentors and judges Indigenous bodybuilding competitions. As a public speaker for Indigenous Youth, she plans to use her Personal Training scholarship education to prepare programs and nutritional plans for the youth and elders in her local regional community.
Both the scholarship winners will be enrolled into the Australian Institute of Personal Trainers’ Complete Personal Trainer – Flexible Mentoring Program. The Complete Personal Trainer qualification combines prerequisites of Certificate III in Fitness and will then launch Ashley and Holly straight into the Certificate IV in Fitness to streamline and fast-track their careers as a Personal Trainers. As Personal Trainers, after completing the Complete Personal Trainer qualification, Ashley and Holly will possess a wide range of relevant instructing and fitness-specific knowledge to provide their communities with the highest level of training advice.
