“Being a PT is not just a job, it’s a lifestyle”
Having danced since the age of just two, I was so excited when Netherlands Dance Theatre noticed me and at just 16, was given the opportunity to fly to the Netherlands to complete their Summer Intensive Program as a full time dancer.
During the scholarship I learnt a lot of ways to condition my body and look after my body, particularly with stretching and strength training.
I am determined to continue growing my career prospects and strengthening my name in the fitness sphere. I am currently in the process of setting up my own business where I plan to offer group fitness, boot camps and one-on-one training sessions for all ages, using a variety of training techniques. Alongside building up my clientele and taking on work as a qualified Personal Trainer, I’m planning to undertake my Les Mills Instructor training, offer online personal training services and undertake nutrition studies to further my knowledge of health and fitness. At 18, I stepped away from competitive dance as my profession and decided to enrol in study to become a Personal Trainer. I had always envisaged myself helping to change lives and improve people’s health and fitness, so a career as a Personal Trainer was the obvious answer. I enrolled in the Certificate III and Certificate IV in Fitness with the Australian Institute of Personal Trainers and now, 12 months later, I am running outdoor boot camp sessions and working as my own Personal Trainer at Fernwood Fitness in Maroochydore. Now, I feel like I’m able to bring all my ballet training knowledge into the fitness industry and offer my clients more. I love being a Personal Trainer. It’s a great work life balance and I love being my own boss.
