My name is Patrick; I’m 25 and from Sydney, greater west.
I currently work as a mental health/disability support worker for two different organizations. I also work part-time in the Australian Defence Force (ADF), part of the Infantry core, to serve and keep myself physically and mentally fit. I have completed a bachelor in Criminology at Western Sydney University, and I hope to pursue a criminal/justice related role in the future. I want to maintain my Army Reservist position as an infantry soldier and have just kick-started my personal training career to help those reach their goals and improve their overall health and wellbeing.
I loved fitness the moment I picked up a 10kg dumbbell for the first time. Funny as that sounds, I have never lost interest in the notion of going to the gym or exercising despite the inconsistencies faced with school, university and work, where I had to leave the gym, lose gains and start from scratch. Muscle memory and the motivation required were always present so thank God for that! Since then, I have always been around playing sports and working out in my high school years. By joining a gym in year 12, 2012, I began to put on muscle and started to see myself improve by sticking to a diet plan/fitness routine. I thought if I had just gained knowledge of how it all works, maybe I could possibly teach those around me. However, I would never have thought that six years later, the idea of having that knowledge would be brought to light. I had finally made the right moves and spoke to Matt from the AIPT team to commence study. Six years later, here I am, with the knowledge gained with the accreditation in Certificate III and IV. Cheers to the team at AIPT!
I studied the Complete Personal Trainer^Program.
After looking online and speaking to fitness enthusiasts, I saw that the team at AIPT were offering the course completely online. Tackling three jobs, one being full time and the other 2 being casual jobs, I thought this was the flexible opportunity I had been looking for. The opportunity to study the course online and yet still get help over the phone through the AIPT student support team was perfect at the time. By understanding and speaking to Matthew (course advisor) from the AIPT team, he sent me all the information regarding the Complete Personal Trainer^Program and how it will be run over a 12 month period. Coupled with the competitive pricing compared to other institutes, I was set in my tracks to enrol as it appeared the best, and I’m not even from Brisbane!
To maintain a self-employed personal training business as one of my set career paths, create more links within the fitness community and possibly join a gym as a personal trainer.
Let’s go! Stay hungry and go after it. Learning fitness is not like other careers; you stay happy throughout because if you love anything fitness related, you will maintain longevity in the fitness realm and prosper. Studying the Complete Personal Trainer^Program has a lot of interesting and engaging content, so keep an open mind, try your best and understand that help is always there and that you will succeed.
