Seb’s Journey: From AIPT Student to Anytime Fitness’ PT of the Year

Some people stumble into the fitness industry. Others are simply built for it. And then there’s Seb - a trainer who embodies purpose, passion and the drive to make a real difference.

This year, Seb was named Anytime Fitness PT of the Year, and even now, the win feels unreal. As he puts it, “Honestly, it feels pretty surreal to win the PT of the Year Award!”

For Seb, leading and inspiring others in fitness is part of who he is. “Coaching and mentoring are something I’ve poured my absolute heart and soul into each and every day for past 10+ years purely because it's who I am, what I love and everything I believe in!”

The Moment It All Started

What inspired Seb to become a Personal Trainer was the chance to make a genuine difference.
“My ultimate goal in life is to make the world a better place because I was in it,” he says. Personal training stood out as the perfect path: a career built on helping people, solving problems, and changing lives from the inside out.

When he began studying with AIPT over a decade ago, he found the confidence and foundation he needed to turn that purpose into a profession.
“Studying through AIPT really gave me the foundation and confidence to take that purpose and turn into a real career.”

Now, he’s come full circle as an AIPT Mentor guiding future trainers through the same journey he once took. “It’s pretty special… being able to mentor and support the next generation of trainers through the same organisation.”

Why Seb Loves What He Does

Talk to Seb about being a PT and his passion is impossible to miss.
“What I love most about being a PT is the chance we have to make a genuine difference to the world!”

His philosophy - skills for life, not just workouts for today - shapes everything he does at My Fitness Academy. “Helping people move and understand their bodies, overcome complex injuries or just live life to the fullest is an incredibly rewarding experience.”

A Moment That Reminded Him Why This Work Matters

When asked to share a standout success story, Seb admits it’s hard to choose just one but there’s a recent moment that captures exactly why he does what he does.

He ran a workshop on back pain for his coaching team, asking each trainer to bring a client struggling with chronic issues. Ten trainers arrived with ten injured clients. By the end of the session, all 10 clients left in complete shock with alleviated pain. Seeing 20 lives change in one afternoon was a moment he'll never forget, and cemented his aspirations to make a real difference within the industry

Thinking About Becoming a PT? Seb’s Advice is Simple.

If fitness is something you feel called to, Seb puts it simply:

“If you're serious about a career in PT my best advice is to just start and fully commit!”

Don’t wait, don’t hesitate - go all in. And don’t do it alone.
“Find yourself a proper mentor and learn from industry leaders who're already living the life and values you'd like to achieve.”

What Set Him Apart as PT of the Year

Seb believes his edge comes from being values-driven and education-first. Rather than chasing overnight results, he focuses on teaching his clients and team “skills for life.”

He sees this as the secret to long-term success for future PTs:
“Invest in your education, stay curious, and think beyond today’s workout. The results, (and the recognition) tend to follow naturally!”

What’s Next for Seb

“Winning PT of the Year really just affirms that we’re on the right track and already creating a huge, positive impact.”

He’s now focused on expanding education nationally through My Fitness Academy and delivering hands-on Campus Workshops with AIPT. Supporting the next generation of trainers is something he genuinely can’t wait for.

Take the First Step Toward Your Own Fitness Career

Seb’s journey shows what’s possible when passion meets purpose and when education meets opportunity. If you’re dreaming of a fitness career that makes a real difference, AIPT gives you everything you need to get started: flexibility, real-world experience, industry connections, and mentors like Seb who’ve walked the same path.
