How old do I have to be to study at AIPT?

You need to be at least 16 and if you are under 18, you need a parent or guardian will need to sign your enrolment form. But remember, you’re never too old to study for success with AIPT!

How fit do I have to be to study at the AIPT?

Personal Trainers are mentors, role models and motivators – so while being fit isn’t a prerequisite to study, you have to be able to keep up with your clients! Great Personal Trainers are passionate about improving people’s health and fitness, so naturally, you should be aware of your own, especially when you are the face of your own business. If you’re passionate about health and fitness, you’re halfway there and gaining the skills and knowledge to mentor others could be all that’s needed for a successful career in fitness.

How can I pay for my course?

There are many different payment options, depending on your chosen course and your selected delivery mode, including: Instalment Plan Deposit + the remainder of your course cost to be paid within 12 months. Up-Front Payment Deposit + the remainder of the course cost to be paid within 30 days. Depending on your chosen course and your location, you can choose from a selection of the below fitness qualification study options: Campus Club: Learn in a small group environment inside one of Australia’s leading gyms and be taught by the best in the business. Undertake a set number of hours with face-to-face training following a set timetable. 1-1 Flexible Mentor: You’ll be matched with one of our qualified Fitness Professionals who will mentor you inside a real club. Enjoy the flexibility of arranging your own timetable to complete a set number of hours of face-to-face training with your Mentor. Mentor of Your Choice: If you already know a Personal Trainer, we could approve them to be your Mentor to guide you through the practical components of your course. Complete a set number of hours of faceto-face training at a club of your choice. Online: Delivered entirely online, meaning you can study when and where suits you through our online learning platform. Any practical elements required within your course are to be undertaken in a relevant working industry environment.

How many hours a week will I need to spend on study?

Your weekly study load will depend on your chosen course and delivery mode. Our courses are designed to be completed at your own pace, in your own time meaning you can fast-track your studies and graduate sooner if you wish or take your time so you can focus on work or family commitments. To help you stay on track and complete your course within the desired timeframe, you will be provided with an individual study plan upon enrolment.

For courses where the theory component is delivered online, you can enrol and start studying whenever it suits you. Depending on your chosen delivery option and your location, commencement dates for our face-to-face fitness and nutrition courses will vary. Are personal trainers in demand?

As people become more health conscious, there will always be a demand for fitness professionals. Research done by the Australian Industry and Skills Committee, the employment level in the Sports and Physical Recreation Activities industry rose substantially over the period between 2001 and 2019 (from around 43,100 to 117,800), however dropped by almost half in 2020 to 61,000 before increasing again in 2021 to 104,200. Employment levels are projected to remain steady at this level to 2025.
