The AIPT Complete Personal Trainer^  Program will give you the knowledge and skills you need to succeed in your fitness career. You will learn to provide physical assessments and incorporate exercise science principles into fitness programming, alongside instructing programs for body composition goals and providing healthy eating information to clients. Combined with the BSB50120 Diploma of Business, you'll learn the fundamentals of business planning, growth and sustainability so you can do business YOUR way.

This is a Nationally Recognised course.

Rest assured, completion of this course version before 9 November 2022 will still provide you with a valid and quality outcome. Delivery

The SIS40215 Certificate IV in Fitness + entry requirements has three delivery options to choose from each with up to 12 months to complete:

  • Student Selected Mentor
  • AIPT Selected Mentor
  • Face-to-face On-campus

The BSB50120 Diploma of Business will be delivered online with up to 12 months to complete after the successful completion of the SIS40215 Certificate IV in Fitness + entry requirements qualification.

Structure

Starting off with the entry requirements, you will learn how to conduct client assessments and effectively plan and deliver tailored exercise programs for a range of different client needs.

Next, you will launch into the SIS40215 Certificate IV in Fitness, where you will develop a thorough understanding of the aspects of personal training. You will be taught how to undertake long-term exercise programs, and how to use motivational psychology to set you up for success.

The BSB50120 Diploma of Business is the next part of your study, where you will develop a firm understanding of how to run an effective and efficient fitness business.

Education

You will need to have completed year 10, or equivalent. Equivalency can be demonstrated by one of the following:

  • A qualification at Certificate II level or higher OR
  • 2 years of industry experience in a role that requires the use of written documentation and communication.

Minimum Age

Students under the age of 18 years require the signed consent of a parent or guardian to enrol in this qualification.

Residency Status

You will need to be a permanent Australian resident or equivalent.

Computer Requirements

In order to complete the online part of the course you will need regular access to the following:

  • Computer: Laptop or desktop computer with working speakers or headphone points
  • Internet: High-speed internet such as Broadband or ADSL, T1/T2, fibre optic (Dial-up access is not recommended)
  • Windows: Operating system – Windows 8 or above
  • Internet Browser: Google Chrome, Firefox or Microsoft Internet Explorer 11
  • MAC: Operating system - OS X 10.14 Mojave or later
  • Software: Flash, Adobe Reader, Microsoft Word (or Open Office which is free to download).

Working with Children Check

In order to complete your Work Placement, you may be required to hold a current "Working with Children Check Clearance" issued by the relevant Responsible Authority in the State or Territory in which you will undertake this course. Please see the Student Handbook for more information.

Responsible for running an organisation, Executive Officers assist the strategic development and ensure effective relationships between business leaders, CEOs and their stakeholders.

Health clubs

Work for a local gym or fitness centre training your own clients as a qualified Personal Trainer. Completing the SIS402015 Certificate IV in Fitness (Complete PT) does not allow you to conduct any group exercise classes that are formalised in a group setting for example choreographed to music.

Student Selected Mentor - Complete PT

Choose your own mentor* to guide you through 40 hours of face-to-face practical. Theory components are completed online, in your own time.

*Your chosen Mentor must be approved by the Australian Institute of Personal Trainers.

AIPT Mentor - Complete PT

40 hours of face-to-face practical completed with an AIPT Mentor, a qualified Personal Trainer, who will guide you through your course material and provide you with hands-on experience, with theory components completed online, in your own time.

Face-to-Face On-Campus

A set number of face-to-face practical hours delivered on-campus in a real gym, with theory components completed online, in your own time.

Up to: 24 months

Course Structure and Units

*HLTAID003

Provide first aid
This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to provide a first aid response to a casualty. The unit applies to all workers who may be required to provide a first aid response in a range of situations, including community and workplace settings. *This course contains a core unit, HLTAID003 Provide first aid, which must be completed through an external RTO. Australian Institute of Personal Trainers has an agreement in place with Red Cross Australia (RTOID 3605) which allows students to receive training for this unit at a reduced price. Please note that the cost of this external training is not included in any of your course fees. Upon completion, you will need to submit a copy of your first aid certificate in order for us to process a Credit Transfer against this unit on your student record. If you have chosen your own third party provider, you must submit a certified copy of your certificate. If you have undertaken training with Red Cross Australia, you must forward Australian Institute of Personal Trainers the email you receive which contains the electronic copy of your certificate.

This unit describes the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to incorporate an understanding of the human body structure and physiology into fitness instruction, programming and provision of fitness advice.

This unit describes the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to identify client fitness requirements, administer a pre-exercise health screening questionnaire and advise clients of appropriate fitness programs, services and facilities.

Provide quality service
This unit describes the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to address the needs and expectations of clients and colleagues, promote programs, services and facilities, and respond to conflict and client complaints. This unit applies to individuals working in a range of customer service roles in the sport, fitness or recreation industries. This includes individuals working in gyms, aquatic centres, community centres or indoor activity centres, as well as to those working as instructors, trainers or guides and volunteers in indoor and outdoor settings. These individuals undertake work according to relevant legislation and organisational policies and procedures.

They are responsible for ensuring that financial resources are managed in line with the financial objectives of the team and organisation.

It includes analysing resource requirements, developing resource plans, allocating resources, and reviewing and reporting on resource usage. The unit applies to individuals with a role in allocating and monitoring the use of physical and/or human resources to meet defined business objectives.

These individuals also engage with a range of relevant stakeholders and specialists. 'Sustainability' in this unit refers to a broad approach that focuses on the minimisation of an organisation’s social, economic and environmental impact, as well as proactive value creation in these areas.
